Students must order an OFFICIAL transcript to apply for ISEP Exchange programs.

Head to UNA’s website and search “Transcripts” or click HERE to go directly to the page.

Click “Order a Transcript.”

Make sure to order the electronic transcript and send it to YOUR personal email. This will allow you to download it and then upload it into the ISEP Application Portal.

Pay the fee and follow any other listed directions.
*Note: You cannot process/receive your transcript if you have a financial and/or administrative hold on your record.*

Studying abroad exposes you to new cultures, enhances your language skills, and can give you a global perspective that’s appealing.
Start by considering your academic goals and interests. Think about what you want your experience to look like.
Short-Term: $2k-$5k (depends on location, how long the trip is, etc.)
Long-Term: Costs about the same as a semester at UNA!
Students studying for 4 years can take advantage of a semester ISEP program. Students interested in this option must reach out to ISS to determine a plan of action and if the student's goals are achievable. Email oiaservices@una.edu for more information.
Graduate students cannot apply for ISEP, but faculty-led trips allow graduate students. Course credits may vary.
Finding flights doesn't have to be stressful. You can use "Student Universe" to look into discounted tickets. Think about what airport is closest or easier for you to have access to. Then look at flights from there to your destination. Check Google to see when the trend says it is best to fly and keep alerts on it. If you have a time or day you have to arrive by, be mindful of that. Also make sure your layovers give you enough time for delays or getting to your next gate. If you do have flexibility in airports, determine which one seems to have the cheapest flights to your destination. Have family or friends drive you there and pick you up, or plan to pay for parking. Yes, however, the process is different depending on your benefits. Meet with your VA Advisor to learn about your options for applying to go abroad.
If you decide to do a semester abroad program that is not in direct partnership with UNA or for exchange, you must email Office of Student Financial Aid at financialaid@una.edu with an appeal form letting them know you will need to pause your scholarship for your study abroad semester. In effect, you will forfeit that semester of UNA aid. You must be in good standing to do this and start them again upon return. You must have a 3.0 GPA. Email the office for further/specific guidelines related to your scholarship. After your return, you must email them again with an appeal form to begin your scholarships again. They advise doing each appeal 2-3 months ahead of the start and end time of your semester/year abroad. Please consult Financial Aid for further information or questions.

Pack light and versatile! Consider the weather and the cultural norms. Don’t forget items like a plug adapter, a good backpack, and any medications. Make sure to leave some space for souvenirs!

- An adapter changes the shape of the plug to fit the outlet, while a converter changes the voltage of the outlet to match the device (Adapters vs. Converters)

- E-Sims can be purchased for varying lengths of time and data amounts. They are easy to use and require no physical card. Check with your service provider to ensure your phone is unlocked or get a temporary unlock period for traveling abroad. Phone plans can be purchased for longer stays abroad. Every country is different. Consider bringing an old phone if you want to use their SIM card.
