How do I pick up my DVDs, or gain access to my Internet class?

INTERNET CLASSES:

Check for information about your course using your UNA Portal account. After logging on to UNA Portal, click on the “Student Services” menu, Then click the link under "My Courses".  Your course should be listed under that menu; follow the link. Also, please check your UNA Portal E-mail for messages from your instructor. DO NOT DELAY checking your UNA Portal account; you may have assignments that will be due very soon.

All UNA students have a UNA Portal E-mail address and have access to features offered by UNA Portal. A UNA Portal account is created the first time that you register for a course. Point your web browser to http://unaportal.una.edu. Follow the instructions on the screen to access your account. If you have not used UNA Portal before, click on the “What is my User Name and Password?” button and follow the instructions. Once you have logged on to UNA Portal, you will be able to retrieve your E-mail and you will have access to a variety of other features and services.

If you cannot access your UNA Portal account, review the UNA Portal Frequently Asked Questions.  If you need additional information, call the Distance Learning Office at 765-4651 for assistance (Toll free 1-877-765-6110).

Will I have tests and written assignments in a Distance Learning Course?

Yes–each course has periodic tests and a final examination. In addition to tests, each course may, at the discretion of the professor, have additional written assignments, labs, discussion sessions, or study sessions. Details regarding these assignments and tests are provided by the instructor.

Most tests will be administered via the Internet, but a few are administered by the Office of Distance Learning, in Stevens Hall Auditorium. Consult the test schedule provided by your instructor for appropriate dates and times.

How do I get in touch with my professor?

Primary contact with the professor is established through telephone (including voice mail), e-mail, campus mail, U.S. mail, and facsimile machine, but Distance Learning students are encouraged to meet with their professors on a face-to-face basis at least once during the semester. See the class syllabus for the best times to get in touch with your professor.

It is very important that you notify your professor and the Office of Distance Learning immediately if you have any address or telephone number changes.

When must I return the DVDs?

The DVDs are yours to keep until your final exam; you are in fact encouraged to keep them for further study or review. Please be aware that there will be a $10.00 per DVD charge for any lost or damaged DVDs, and there is a $10.00 per day late fee if you return the DVDs after the due date. The DVDs should be returned to the Distance Learning Office or the Learning Resources Center during regular hours of operation.

How do I enroll?

All students in the Distance Learning program must first be admitted to the University. Call the Office of Admission at 256-765-4608 for information on enrollment procedures, and follow university guidelines to register for classes.

As a Distance Learning student, will I have access to the library?
